Autobiographies
As someone who is deeply fascinated with differing viewpoints, I find autobiographies to be indispensable. There is a peculiar richness that comes from reading what someone thought of their own life and comparing that with what other biographers thought of their life. Even more intriguing is what can be learned about a person by what they choose to reveal about themselves.
Not all of these are accounts of an entire life. A few are accounts of a specific portion of the author’s life, or a particular labor that the author was engaged in. Some of these are my personal favorites, and some were culled from this Wikipedia list of Famous Autobiographies and added to my To-Be-Read shelf. But all of them are personal accounts.
